Featured Story

Bacchus Marsh Grammar is currently undertaking a significant building program. The following is a summary of the changes that are occurring and some temporary arrangements that will be in place for Term 4 and into 2017.

Renovations to the gymnasium are nearing completion, the changes incorporated a new suite of offices, as well as an increase in size to the weights and conditioning room areas. The front façade of the gymnasium (northern face) will also get a makeover, with modern burnt orange Alucabond cladding to extend right across the building. To the rear of the gym, the sports storeroom is being extended to consolidate the storage space and remove any overflow and large items from the gymnasium floor space.

Works are continuing with the main carpark (carpark 1), to help streamline, beautify and improve safety for students, parents and staff. There will be a large shelter in the middle island for students and parents to utilise whilst they wait as well as a couple of smaller shelters on the oval side road along the drop off and pick-up zone.

Added to the shelters and landscaping, the corner alongside the cricket nets is currently being prepared for a new uniform shop, gatehouse and delivery area. It is anticipated that this project will be complete ready for use by the beginning of 2017.

Throughout Term Four, work is expected to commence on a new double storey addition to fill the space between the Administration building and Wilson Hall.  This will see The Health Centre relocated to the ground floor of this build, with office space on the first floor for administration offices. It is also anticipated that this facility will be fully operational by the beginning of 2017.

Stage 1 of the new seating area near the canteen is almost complete. We are hoping to have a series of tables and chairs in this area by the beginning of Term 4, just in time for the warm weather!

Additional new classrooms are on their way. Up to 15 new classrooms and staff office space will be delivered and installed onsite in 2 stages. Stage 1 will be completed, ready for classes at the beginning of 2017 academic year, while Stage 2 will be ready by the beginning of Term 2 2017. Stage one consists of 10 large classrooms, and will be a double storey build. Stage 2 will have 5 classrooms down stairs and a suite new offices upstairs. Stage 1 will run North/South from the current Health Centre to the playground near the canteen, and Stage 2 will run East/West from the playground near the canteen to the BMG Café.

The playground space at the school is currently being redesigned to create a unique and exciting play space area that will effectively become an entrance way for parents and visitors using the main car park. This is an exciting project and will help finish off the building and landscapes works at Bacchus Marsh Grammar.

The volume of the building works, will necessitate some temporary arrangements to be put in place for Term 4 2016 and Semester One, 2017.

The Health Centre will be temporarily relocated to new office space, in Level One of the gymnasium, until the new Health Centre is completed and relocated to the Administration building. The Uniform Shop will be temporality relocated to the “Old Café” space in Wilson Hall, until completion of their new building, Disruption to educational programs within the school will be kept to a minimum, it is anticipated that there will be no direct disruption to any classes. Thank you to Mr Nam Ha Quach, the School’s Property Manager for his planning and overseeing of the completion of this major phase of building within the school.
