Featured Story

It is pleasing to see so many of the projects around the school starting to become a physical presence.  Last Friday I was at Kinglake looking at the beginning of the construction of buildings for the new Early Learning Centre for Woodlea.  This is progressing well as are various modules related to new classroom blocks at Bacchus Marsh.  By the end of Term One we will have constructed 20 new classrooms which will mean that we have completely rehoused the Junior School in under two years.

The start of any term sees a degree of pushing the boundaries in relation to hair and uniform.  Our policies in these areas are consistent and long-standing, we are a school that values uniform and does not accept that moving to the vagaries and whims of transitioning fashions are values we want to promote within the school.  This is made clear upon enrolment and we again have an expectation made clear before enrolment that parents support the school in enforcing the school’s policies in these areas.  I thank parents for their support last week when we have had such issues.

It has been a pleasure to start to interview and make offers to 2017 School Leaders.  We will announce these positions next week alongside a broader revamp of how student leadership will be conducted across the Senior School beginning in 2017.

The School as part of its funding agreement with the Commonwealth is required to develop and implement a School Development Plan.  I would be pleased to receive any written submissions from parents on items they would like considered in such a plan.  General headings which will be included are:

  1. Improvement of student academic outcomes
  2. Capital improvements
  3. Pastoral and welfare improvements

Submissions can be emailed to me on school@bmg.vic.edu.au or a hard copy addressed to me via Reception by Friday 21 October.
