Over the Term Two break, students in Senior School (Years 9-12) are highly encouraged to participate in many of the career and course development information days. These events are usually known as ‘Experience Days’ and are run by various tertiary providers and organisations. Attendance at these days can assist with heightened career awareness and begin to help students plan for future goals. Another benefit is that students are made aware of current employment trends and latest research in dedicated fields as well as providing students with a chance to familiarise themselves with course expectations and entry requirements.
There are also a variety of ‘Taster days’ whereby students are able to attend mock or condensed activities that emulate future work demands in many employment fields that require University and/or TAFE (vocational) studies. Many events are free, but require early registration. Some events also include sessions specifically aimed at Parents/Guardians for those who are keen on accompanying their child.
The Melbourne Career Expo will be held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 20-22 July. BMG is happy to be able to offer students and their family a free ticket to the Melbourne Career Expo scheduled for July. We strongly support weekend attendance.

I would like to wish all Year 10 students involved in the Work Experience Program a successful time at their placements over the break. It is a great opportunity for them to exercise some of the employability skills they have learned.
