Literacy Week 2022

Bacchus Marsh Grammar recently celebrated Literacy Week in fine style!

The majority of classes from Prep to Year 6 on both campuses enjoyed sessions with some fabulous guest authors or special literacy-based workshops – some of these are extending into this week. These sessions are always highly-anticipated and all students seemed to enjoy them.

As with each year, the highlight was the Dress Up Day and it was wonderful to see the excitement of all of the students as they proudly showcased their costumes throughout the day.  The Junior School staff went to great lengths with their own costumes as well, which added a great sense of joy to the day and all of the children.

The Roald Dahl scavenger hunt was enjoyed by many Middle School students, who dashed around the school solving cryptic clues and hunting for hidden letters.  This was almost as exciting as the Very Hungry Caterpillar Treasure Hunt that was held for our younger students.

Another special element of the week was seeing some of our Senior School students sharing stories during STAR time with many of the Junior classes.  This was a lovely opportunity for all involved and the students just loved having the ‘big kids’ come and read to them during the week.

While we are continually focusing on the literacy of our students at Bacchus Marsh Grammar, it certainly was fantastic to shine a special light on it for this wonderful week and we look forward to doing it all again next year!  Many thanks to all of the staff and volunteer students who contributed to making our 2022 Literacy Week a spectacular success.
