BMG 2019 Grammarian Issue 3

9 Throughout the week, we welcomed a range of well- known authors who shared their talents, experiences and inspirations with students from Prep through to Year 8. These authors included: Corinne Fenton, Lucinda Gifford, Mark Wilson, Tony Wilson, George Ivanoff and Michael Pryor. Year 4 had the opportunity to take part in a writing workshop conducted by a facilitator from 100 Story Building. These talented visitors highlighted the impact that literacy has on people of all ages and the benefits of engaging in literacy. This Literacy Week was altered to include the whole school and provided students with opportunities to engage in a wider range of literacy activities and experiences. All students dressed up as literary characters on the same day and Middle School and Senior School students read to those in the Junior School during recess and lunch. This inclusive approach was a valuable experience for all students which was evident throughout the whole week. Thank you to all who were involved in making this week so memorable. Mrs Alison Cummins STUDENT REFLECTION: AAYAN QAZI – YEAR 1 Last Thursday we were ridiculously lucky to have the amazingly talented author Tony Wilson come to our school. He has written some awesome books such as The Cow Tripped Over The Moon , A Boy Called Bob and Grannysaurus Rex . He also told us the difference between an author and an illustrator. He read his new book Baa Baa Blue Sheep to us, which was really funny. It was extremely fun meeting him. Author, Tony Wilson entertained and inspired the Year 1 students.
