- Page 29 - CONTENTS - JAPANESE - YEARS 5 AND 6 Teacher: Thomas Monaghan Time: Thursday Lunchtime Location: Room 110 STUDENT CHOICE PROGRAM OVERVIEW Students will be provided with the opportunity to extend their knowledge of Japanese language and culture prior to starting Year 7. Students will be given the opportunity to practice scripture writing (Hiragana and Katakana) and use it to converse with other students. Students will have the opportunity to learn and experience aspects of Japanese culture. The program will tie in with the lessons they are completing during class time in order to extend and consolidate their knowledge on the topic. LESSON COMPONENTS Lessons will include character recognition, sentence structure, origami, scripture writing and learning how to speak Japanese. SKILL DEVELOPMENT These classes will provide students with the opportunity to:  Express themselves using Japanese language.  Consolidation of knowledge.  Interact with peers by conversing in Japanese language.  Strengthen fine motor skills
