11 STUDENT PERSPECTIVE Today we may be at home but we are still together as a school community. We are all playing a role in making history and, many years from now, we will share in the stories of how this pandemic has shaped the world we know. May I take this opportunity to thank all the staff for making the transition to online learning as smooth and engaging as possible. These new circumstances may be unsettling or even overwhelming at times without the dynamics of a school environment that we have grown to love. We must remember that it is ok to struggle or even find it confronting at times (personally I do), but we must look at the positives and remember that we will overcome this hurdle as a community. My peers and teachers have also played a big part in helping me stay positive throughout my online learning journey. They have helped me look at the bright side of this situation and kept me positive through these challenging times. During this time, we all need to look out for each other, whether it is friends or family, because we need to be part of the solution, not the problem. I never realised how perfect life was. Isaac Busuttil – Year 6 Captain Woodlea I also want to thank all my teachers and peers who are always there for me. I really do miss meeting my friends every day, also all the staff and teachers. I have realised that I am so grateful for such an amazing life. I have supportive parents, very kind friends and peers, helpful teachers and staff who help me build my learning to another level, and never forgetting my wonderful school. This year, I have learnt a huge lesson, “all heroes don’t have capes”, but they all have amazing hearts and try their best to save the world. When I think of what all the front line workers are sacrificing and how hard they work, I really feel blessed. Everything that is happening feels like a movie; if you think about it from that perspective, we know there will be a good ending where everything will slowly go back to normal. As a group, my class read a book called ‘The Girl on Wire’. The book is about a girl who faces her fears. The girl has to walk on a tightrope through a storm. Her family, peers and teacher are there at the bottom cheering her on. I feel like that sometimes, but my peers and guardians always help me face all worries. We need to be patient and not try to run on the tightrope, even though we want to. We should follow the words of Og Mandino.“ I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars.” Abi Bhaduri – Year 6 Captain Woodlea Jordan Grillo, 11F Shaurya Nayyar, 4WA Jack Warnick, 4WA
