BMG 2020 Grammarian Issue 3
4 When I first arrived, one of my major concerns was that we were a school that was very inward looking. In a remark that was unpopular at the time, I said that, “We need to get rid of the view that the world ends at Anthony’s Cutting”. The turning point for the school was when this throw away line started to become reality. A major influence in that was the decision to introduce school bus routes, separate from those offered by the Government. Our first students from Wyndham arrived just over twenty years ago. The expansion physically, but also in the school’s imagination of what is possible, has been a hallmark of the school over the past twenty years. I have been very fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful staff and, from the early part of this century, a supportive and encouraging School Board. Central to the journey has been Michelle Graham, Elizabeth O’Day, Greg Gough and Kevin Richardson. Along the way, many others have joined and made enormous contributions to make a truly great school but to borrow the words of a famous 19 th Century School song – “one whose best years still lie ahead”. – Mr Andrew A. Neal, Principal
