9 On behalf of the Woodlea Prep team, I would like to start by thanking the parents and children for a wonderful start to the school year. Here at Bacchus Marsh Grammar Woodlea we eagerly anticipated the arrival of our six new Prep classes. The first day saw a buzz of excitement as the children, all dressed to impress in their oversized uniforms, entered the school gates for the very first time. There were some smiles and some tears, both on the part of parents and children, as they waved their first goodbyes. Wewere incredibly impressed as the students demonstrated independence, enthusiasm and excitement throughout those first few days, which has turned into a deep-seated desire to learn and strive to succeed as the weeks have progressed. Throughout this term, students have been involved in a range of learning experiences including their first taste of online learning. This opportunity allowed parents a sneak peak into a day in the life of a Prep child. It was also a lovely time to celebrate just how far the children had come in such a short amount of time at school. Upon the return to school, students participated in our Teddy Bears’ Picnic, an exciting event where we met the students’ furry friends. The teddies were involved in all of our daily activities, including making a trip to the school playground where they enjoyed climbing the spider’s web. Meeting all parents through our Zoom interviews was an invaluable experience in which we began to build an important partnership with our families. This partnership is the foundation that supports our students both at home and at school, ensuring all students are provided with a holistic education. Again, a huge thank you to our school community for providing us with a fantastic start to the 2021 school year. We cannot wait to continue to watch the students grow throughout the year.
