BMG 2021 Grammarian Issue 3

10 DAY CAMPS IN JUNIOR SCHOOL To provide students with a range of unique experiences that foster learning and development outside of the classroom setting, Bacchus Marsh Grammar offers a range of camps and experiences across all the different year levels. Our Camps programwas significantly interrupted in 2021 due to COVID. Fortunately, most of our Middle Years’ programs and our Year 9 Camps were held through Term 1 and Term 2. However, our Junior School experiences had to be delayed and adjusted due to Health Department regulations, but once Term 4 commenced, students were able to get out and enjoy Day Camps. They thoroughly enjoyed venturing into the outdoors, with all age groups wanting to explore and immerse themselves in the activities on offer. In addition, students participated in activities such as the Flying Fox, Giant Swing, Orienteering, Bush Cooking, Bush Walking, Canoeing and Kayaking, Stand up Paddle Boarding, an Amazing Race, Yabbying, Arts and Crafts in Nature program and Bug Hunting. Students participate in many activities throughout their time at BMG, all of which are designed to enhance their development by building resilience, independence and lifelong skills. Students have the opportunity to develop friendships, strengthen their leadership and decision- making skills, engage in new experiences and gain an appreciation of the natural environment. A huge thank you to everyone involved. Ms Rachel McMahon – Head of Camps PREP After a year of “on and off ” lockdowns, the Preps were set free in the best possible way at the Staughton Vale Campus. What a day! The weather was delightful. The worms came out to play and students explored our amazing gardens. They were immersed in the natural experiences of climbing hills, picking lemons and digging for bugs. Students also played games including bowling, bean bag tossing and a scavenger hunt.
