In the first three weeks of Term 4, Year 8s attended our Staughton Vale campus for their final learning experience in Middle School. Learning centred on Indigenous culture and connection to land and country. Students had experiences that promoted their own connection to land – planting, harvesting and cooking produce. They played traditional indigenous games and spent communal time together, sharing experiences and having a yarn. To promote the communal spirit and connection with others, students assisted in producing a shared lunch and some sweet treats which were gifted to one another and families. It was fantastic to see students trying new and unfamiliar ingredients indigenous to Australia including, kangaroo, wattle seed, lemon myrtle and bush tomato.
