- Page 8 - CONTENTS - FINE MOTOR SKILLS - PREP Teacher: Sandra Spriggs Time: Monday Lunchtime Location: Room E4 TEACHER SELECTED PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Prep Fine Motor Skills co- curricular program aims to improve the students ’ fine motor skills. Fine motor skills are essential for students to achieve success with writing. The focus will be on cutting, colouring, finger grip, hand-eye co-ordination, hand strength and letter formation using a range of hands- on activities. LESSON COMPONENTS Exercises with an emphasis on finger movement Cutting and colouring activities Hands on Activities that build finger grip and strength, for example, Lego or Playfoam Handwriting – letter formation SKILL DEVELOPMENT Hand Strength Finger Grip Cutting Hand Eye Co-ordination Letter Formation SELECTION CRITERIA Teachers will nominate students to participate in this program. Teachers will use classroom observations and a variety of diagnostic testing to select students.
