- Page 31 - CONTENTS - LAB RATS - YEARS 5 AND 6 Teacher: Li Richardson Time: Thursday Lunchtime Location: Room 118 STUDENT CHOICE PROGRAM OVERVIEW Students participating in Budding Scientists as a co-curricular activity will be actively engaged in extending and broadening their understanding of the world of Science. This program focusses on developing students ’ research and project based Science skills. It is an opportunity to explore, design, create and present a scientific discovery or invention to be displayed at the annual Science Fair. LESSON COMPONENTS Students will be supervised during lunchtimes to create a Science Fair Project to be presented in Science Week. SKILL DEVELOPMENT These classes will provide students with the opportunity to:  Freely explore their specific areas of interest in Science  Make a working model or invention  Try out their experiments under expert supervision  Explore and communicate results just like in the real world  Interact with peers by sharing ideas, completing a project and presenting it at the Science Fair SELECTION CRITERIA This program is offered to students from Year 5 and 6 with an interest in extending their Scientific Skills. Enter the Science Fair to show off your love of Science! The Science Fair will be held at the Maddingley Campus.
