- Page 8 - CONTENTS - WE LOVE LITERACY - PREP Teacher: Nicole Mill Time: Tuesday Lunchtime Location: Room G11 TEACHER SELECTED PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Literacy program provides students with an opportunity to develop strategies and skills within reading and writing in order to enhance their enjoyment of literacy. A range of text types will be explored within the program. LESSON COMPONENTS Reading:  Make Predictions  Independently use a variety of strategies to approach unknown text  Develop phonemic awareness  Extend vocabulary  Develop comprehension, both literal and inferential  Make connections  Develop fluency and phrasing  Identify features of a particular text type Writing  Represent phonemes with the correct graphemes (from how it is heard, to how it is written)  Develop sentence structure  Use a range of punctuation  Respond to texts SELECTION CRITERIA Students are nominated for the Literacy program via teacher recommendation.
