BMG 2021 Grammarian Issue 1

4 LEADERSHIP REFLECTIONS It is an honour to receive the position of School Captain for 2021. I believe it is imperative that you should get involved in as many aspects of the school as possible. After school, I am planning to study Engineering at Monash University as well as joining the Army Reserves. I look forward to the opportunities this year will hold and how they will enable me to develop myself and others. Zoli Earnshaw – Captain It is an honour to have been chosen as one of the Bacchus Marsh Grammar School Captains for 2021. I have been attending Bacchus Marsh Grammar since Year 7 and have admired the way the school approaches learning, allowing me to prosper in the knowledge and skills such as leadership that will assist me in years to come. I am looking forward to being a representative of the school as well as someone approachable. Getting involved in school is something I have been doing since the beginning of my time at BMG. I have participated in many co-curricular activities such as the SRC and Senior Vocal Ensemble, as well as many other programs such as the Deakin Inspired Minds Program and Youth Parliament. I was also privileged enough to receive the John Leaver Memorial Award in 2020 for my leadership efforts that were recognised by the school. Outside of school, I am a private tutor. I also maintain work experience positions and volunteer work in the medical field in the hope of completing a Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine. I am excited to be working with Bacchus Marsh Grammar’s Leadership Team this year and look forward to presenting new initiatives to the school. Samara Peel – Captain I am extremely grateful to be elected as part of the School Captain trio of 2021. I cannot wait to play my part as a beacon for all students to come to if they need help or support. The wealth of opportunities and the support the school has provided me is amazing, and I am looking forward to helping all students to enjoy these opportunities for themselves. From multiple experiences along my journey at BMG I have learnt to develop my leadership skills, problem solving, adapting to new environments and talking to different people. I believe that a good captain is honest, committed, inspirational, optimistic and able to communicate well with all types of people. These are qualities that I will try to exhibit every day to be the best version of myself and the best leader for my school. I am a passionate and open person who is always striving to improve as a leader and support fellow students. I endeavour to continue further studies after Year 12. I am currently interested in the health and science field, but an Indonesian translator is also a possibility. Through all of the hardships we faced in 2020, I would like to shine a positive light on this year and embrace every opportunity it brings. Zali Ward – Captain Over the years, I have enjoyed participating in many different extra-curricular activities ranging from ICCES sports to Senior School productions. I have also enjoyed acting as a leader wherever possible and challenging myself to take on more responsibilities within the school. This year, I hope to implement a project which will assist students with their transition from primary school to secondary school and help younger students learn how to deal with stressful situations. When I finish Year 12, I hope to pursue a career in acting in theatre and on screen, and I would like to eventually study at VCA. If this plan doesn’t work out, I would like to pursue a career in fire fighting. Lachlan Beard – Vice Captain I have had the opportunity to be active in the school community through the SRC, The Before School Reading Program and school productions, as well as many leadership activities. I look forward to my future at university and am excited to have received a guaranteed early admission to study Education in areas such as Psychology, Drama and History. In my last year at school, I plan to contribute my best to the Bacchus Marsh Grammar community which has been so supportive of me. I believe that we can all be our best if we support and encourage each other and work hard. Ella Beazley – Vice Captain
